The Bureau of Linguistical Reality is a public participatory art project, co-founded by interdisciplinary artists Alicia Escott and Heidi Quante. The Bureau convenes word-making salons of people from different backgrounds to think/feel into what particular, peculiar, poignant phenomena we are experiencing due to Anthropogenic climate change and environmental upheaval. New states, new realities, new features of life require new language to be able to name them. The Bureau, with its many collaborators around the world, devises a lexicon for our era of climate destabilization.
Marsification, with its different definitions and dimensions, serves as an overarching theme for the album to explore complex longing, planetary grief, funded denial and the recurring compulsion of colonial fantasy. In this audio journey, we introduce four other terms that speak to terrestrial emotions and predicaments that shape our interplanetary perspectives.
